What We do
We foster accessible, connected, and supportive community living opportunities for deaf, deafblind, deafdisabled, and hard of hearing (DDBDDHH) individuals who benefit from shared or cooperative living environments. Deafinitely Housing is exploring housing solutions that respond to diverse community needs, including temporary housing for survivors of violence, family housing, affordable homeownership, and pathways to housing stability.
Community comes first
Community input and data are currently being gathered to better understand housing needs and priorities. This information will help guide the development of future housing solutions and partnerships.
Funding
Funding opportunities are also being explored to establish a housing fund that could support the acquisition of a housing unit for members of the DDBDDHH community.
Home Sharing
A home-sharing program is also being researched as a potential solution to connect DDBDDHH homeowners and tenants through an application process. The program could provide more affordable housing options for tenants while offering homeowners, including older adults, and reduce financial strain and assistance with household tasks, companionship, or other agreed-upon forms of support.
Research Studies
A DDBDDHH cohousing concept is also being explored through a future feasibility study to assess the potential for an accessible, community-centered residential model inspired by established cohousing communities. Funding will be pursued to support the feasibility study and, if viable, future development of the concept.
